M3 run a survey to gather feedback from others
I published a survey for people to send feedback on how they felt my advert was and the responses will help me improve my future work from the quality of the filming to how suggestible the advert is.
Only 40% of responses felt that the advert was flmed and edited at a high quality, which is lower than hoped however this is great feedback to show what needs to be improved. Firstly, the camera shots may have been very basic and didn’t have any advanced shots. Also, at times the story didn’t make sense such as when the weather was sunny then suddenly rainy and back to sunny as it didn’t make sense for the flow and narrative of the advert, so continuity is something that I need to work on to better my work. Another thing to work on as a group is makinf sure the edits are at a high level and that we are challenging ourselves to create high level edits.
60% of people felt that this advert would catch the attention of a casual audience. This could be improved by researching interests of our target audience and seeing what the attention span is of the audience, as if the advert is too slow then the attention would drop off and the advert would be ineffective. However 40% felt that this advert wasn't up to standard to catch the attention of an average audience, so in future I want to make it less cringe and incorporate humour to make it more relatable.
80% of people said they woud mention this advert to their friends and family, however there is 20% of people who think that this adert is not up to the standard to share. I will take this feedback and make sure that my advert is mature but also not irresponsible and involve comedy as it might make it more sharable and enjoyable.
20% of people said they didn’t understand the product that was being advertised so I need to ensure next time I film I must focus on the product rather and make sure I grab the attention of the audience straight away and take a different approach to my advert.
I want to take mise-en-scene more into mind when filming to make sure the narrative of the advert is correct. Location, sound, lighring are all things that could have been improved before filming and post production. With locaton, I think there shoul have been more scenes from the house to really get the feeling of an ‘unlucky morning’ as I don’t think that was achieved in the recoring. Secondly, continuity in the recording could be hugely improved as the narrative may have felt off or unrealistic at times, such as at the bus sop when the actors hair suddenly changes from scene to scene and when the weather goes from being clear to being rainy and wet to make sure everyone understands what is being advertised.
Also I want to make sure it is easily shareable by not going any cringey scenes and instead highlight the positive impacts that the product has such as happiness and fullfillness.
In addition, I want to make sure I incorporate better camera angles and shots as well as dialogue to make the advert effective.
